I picked up a book from the library that i havent read properly yet. it’s about the vjing culture written by a guy called Mike from DFuse.
VJing – i find interesting. the collaboration of music and spontaneously cut imagery.
i’ve always loved watching cut and paste tournaments although i have yet to attend a live one. I think it should be around this time or so that OneDot Zero will hold their multimedia festivals.
DJing – I’ve always been interested in. Having dated a coue of dj’s in the past, it was interesting to see how they chose tracks and drop them into each other. cut up the song and just the general body movements that come about from their ’spinning’ was all very alluring.
so.. i’m going to enrol myself into a djing course fairly soon. to know the technicalities behind it. the equipement needed and the awareness of the crowd ( the reciever).
i’ll also read the vjing book. then hopefully find the collaboration points between the two.
whether this helps my project or not.. i dont know. it’s based on music so i’m hoping yes.
but for now.. i’m going to just learn. absorb. emerse myself as much as possible with what i enjoy about this project and hopefully it’ll help keep me on track with being motivated to do something for this project rather than just think about it and not actually put pen to paper.
i’m going to dig out my sketch book and pencils. i think it’s about time that i get down to creating something manual rather than intellectual.
what i’d love is if they gave you a blog space where you can draw instantaneously within your blog. like a white board.
being on an online course, i have a tendency to think that i have to create something online so that it can be viewed digitally.
forget it. i’m going to draw. and paint. do whatever pops into mind. take a picture of it and upload it.
who cares if no one sees all of it. it’s for me. it’s my project. forget the audiences and the recievers… for now anyway
