so this is the flash piece that is still currently being worked on.

Firstly, i suck at code and this code uses Compute Spectrum which is Flash AS3.0. Being old, I’ve only learnt Flash AS2.0 so it was a pain to get to grips with.
Here are some sources that helped along the way:

So far I’ve managed to get it to detect the track ( winterlane.mp3 which is merely for testing purposes and will not be the actual track that i will be using for the final piece) and i’ve managed to single out another frequency so that it displays 2 different frequencies at the moment ( red is one frequency and green is another frequency).
i’m still undecided about whether i want to use this animation as the final animation or whether i want to change it and have lots of different circles where each circle represents a track of one of the instrumentals within the piece and so laid out in full, there’d be.. say.. 1 track for percussion, 1 track for vocals, 1 track for keyboard, 1 track for guitar and 1 track for bass. so each track would have a circle for it and the animation would correspond to that particular track but then all dots would be present on screen so that when they’re all playing simultaneously; it makes up the whole song in it’s entirety.
i dont know.. i have to see. i’m awaiting tracks from my friend to see if it can be done. the only pain with making a project based on sound is to make sure that the final piece is copyright free and that the track used is either permitted by the owners of the copyright or that it’s an original track that i have rights to.
well.. anyway, i thought i’d show my progress at something :-p
